Frank Dor studied Medicine in Antwerp and at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (MD, cum laude). After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Transplantation Biology Research Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA, Frank was trained as an abdominal transplant surgeon at the Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He continued working there as a Consultant Transplant Surgeon and Surgical Director of Kidney Transplantation. He did a sabattical at The Liver Transplant Unit of King’s College Hospital in London, and joined the Imperial College Renal and Transplant Centre at Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK, in 2016 as Consultant Transplant Surgeon and Lead for Transplantation.  

Frank is an active clinical and translational scientist, and a passionate educationalist. He served as Chair of ESOT’s education committee, as Hesperis Course chair, and is Director of the ESOT Live Donor Nephrectomy Course, Council Member of ESOT (ambassadorship and communication, Lead of the Social Media Ambassador programme), Council Member of the British Transplantation Society, Chair of the BTS Chapter of Surgeons, Deputy-Chair of the Kidney Advisory Group of NHS Blood and Transplant, member of the European Surgical Association, Chair of the Clinical Ethics Committee of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and UK national delegate of the UEMS Division for Transplant Surgery.  Frank is co-chair of the Living Organ Donation Working Group of Ethical Legal and Psychosocial Aspects in Transplantation (ELPAT, section of ESOT). He is an advisor to the Peter Morris Centre for Evidence in Transplantation. He has been Secretary General of the European Society for Surgical Research (ESSR) and Senior Secretary of the UEMS Division for Transplant Surgery.  

Frank is Editor-in-Chief of European Surgical Research, Academic Editor of PLOSOne, Associate Editor of Transplantation and the World Journal of Transplantation, and editorial board member of several other transplant and surgical journals.
