Dr Abu-Alfa is a tenured Professor of Medicine, Head of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and Director for the Human Research Protection Program at the American University of Beirut. He is also an Adjunct faculty member at Yale. He earned his MD from AUB and completed renal fellowship at Yale.
He is founding President of the ISPD-Middle East Chapter, is Chair of the ISN-Middle East Regional Board, is member of ISN CME Committee and Chair-elect of its Renal Disaster Preparedness Workgroup. He served on KDIGO Executive committee and is immediate past President of the Lebanese Society of Nephrology and Hypertension.
